Acclimating my 2 Ocellaris as I type!

yay everyone, I've finally taken the plunge and bought some fish! I actually got two Ocellaris Clwons from Petco here in Long Beach. I stood and watched them for literally 20 minutes, just observing about 5 in a tank. One was obviously the dominant (hopefully female) so I opted to take her. She would dart at the other clowns, but I never once saw her actually strike one. The other I selected is slightly smaller and was exhibiting the "clownfish shake/jiggle" dance every minute or two to the dominant female in the tank. I am hoping this means they will have higher success of pairing up. Does my thinking sound correct on this?

I'm just so excited, my fiancee will be home in about two hours and she'll see the new guys just sittin' in the tank waiting to go in. I figure I"ll give them a couple hours to acclimate to my tank water. I'm using a turkey baster, and filling the bag with one baster amount every 5 minutes or so, and when the bag gets semi-full, I pour half the water out and continue. Sound good here too?

Hooray for new fish!

Sounds like you're playing it extra safe. Make sure you don't pour any of the store water in your tank.

Congrats!

Thanks! Yeah, NO store water ever touches my tank. I've heard horrors upon horrors.

BTW, do I have to have my lights on for the OCs? I currently don't keep them on to prevent algae, seeing that I only have reef hermits in there now. I will probably by a toadstool leather here soon, and will then keep it on for probably 8 hours daily. But do I need to have it on for any length of time for the clowns? Thanks!
