Acclimating Mushrooms

I just scored on some pink with purple polkadotted mushrooms. The joker at the lfs said just throw them in. YA RIGHT. How do you acclimate mushrooms? Drip for 2 hours?

For once your LFS is telling the truth!!! I just float softies like that for about 20-30 mins to get the temp right, then pull 'em out of the bag (I don't like adding any one else water to my tank) and into the tank...Just about all soft and LPS corals need minimal acclimation. I've always done them that way and never lost one because of it. The only thing you might want to do differently is if you wanted to do a dip first to try and kill any potential parasites (I don't usually on something like 'shrooms, but I do give them a good looking over for flatworms and such).

unless the salinity of the water the coral is coming from is signifigantly less than the water of your tank.....that goes for ALL corals and fish. float to temp and drop them in.(your treament bucket of your chopsen medication and tank water of course).

Any ammonia in the bags becomes toxic once you offgas the co2 and introduce oxygen. This is of course more so important when talkign about shipped corals and fish. Float to temp without opening the bag and them once to temp.......get them out of the dirty water they shipped in as soon as you can.
