ACAN Coral not opening

Got this Acan frag last Friday from LFS, all my other corals are doing great, this Acon has not opened even in the slightest. Any thoughts? Thanks

I haven't seen anything nipping at it. I have a Fox Face, Blue line Rabbit, Royal Gramma, Green file fish, Carpenter Wrasse and a small Valintini puffer and Brown barred goby...All well fed

They are nocturnal by nature, check about an hour after lights out.

Ok I will, I have looked at my tank with lights out, have not seen him open, but not paying as much attention maybe to just the Acan. It was big (for it's size) fully open and beautiful at the lfs under strong LED's

It looks open to me... not really reaching the tentacles out much, but the mouth doesnt look like it is gaping. Look at it in the night. That is when the tentacles really come out. Also if you feed frozen foods you should see them come out within 5 minutes of them getting a scent of the food. Try turning flow off and spot feeding them mysis 2x week for the first couple weeks. This is what I do every time I get a new acan and they are doing great! After the first couple weeks they should have a good response during the day. What I do is feed my fish a small portion of the food and then about 10 minutes later I dump the rest in when they are in feeding mode. They catch what they can at that point. I only spot feed if they are looking like they need it (usually only after getting them shipped to me).

It's not any where near open, it was covering that plug that you see when it was open at the store, the flesh was puffed up and very full and the center was very red/orange. You can see most of the skeleton edges in the pic. Still covered with flesh but visible.

How are you arriving at 1.025? thru a hydrometer or refractometer. if a swingarm hydrometer, those things are "toys" and could be waaaaay off. a neighbor down my street called me in a panic bc $2000 worth of corals were dying. he said his hydrometer was reading 1.025. i came down with my calibrated refractometer and tested him at 1.033. He ordered a refractometer that night.

If you are going to feed it, it may repond the best with OysterFest or Reef Chili squirted around it to stimulate its tenticles.

Watch BRS video of their Reef Chili: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYpodDOUZ6M

Sorry, you did ask that, a refractometer , also compared to lfs refratometer and spot on. I'll spot feed it to see if that helps it want to open.
