What kind of camera is it. My Panosonic seems to always get confused whe I try to get in close. It trys to focus on the glass.

The camera is a Nikon D200 and I'm using a Nikon 105 Macro Lens. I'm using a tripod and the timer to eliminate shake. Focusing is manual.
I do have to admit that I've only opened the book once to find out how to set the timer. That's it.
