a few questions/update

Hey everyone,

I was just browsing FFE, and saw that they were selling "Maiden's Hair algae". Now, I figured that this is not the type of hair algae that people try to get rid of. Now with that said, what is it? The picture on their site looks a lot like grass, and it seems like it could be kind of cool swaying in a gentle current somewhere in a tank.

As for the update part of my post, I actually have two. First, the colt that I propagated is doing great. All the frags have attached on their own; I removed the rubber bands and/or toothpicks and/or netting yesterday. Just wanted to say thanks to everybody who helped me on that one. Second, after a call to ReefFanatic.com, and a short explanation of what had happened, a very friendly service rep agreed to send out a replacement ballast that day. I should be getting it very soon. So thanks again to everybody who helped me and thanks to ReefFanatic for the great service!

midens hair is a very pretty, fine, bright green algae. It's thickness is more on the order of hair than grass. There are at least 2 problems that I know. First, your algae eating critters will love it, and second, it has a tendancy to go sexual and expload all over the tank.

Good points, aside from it's appearance, is that it's a great amphipod breeding ground.

The box said "Use Win 95 or better", I chose better so I run OS/2!
