a few ID's please

Hey all I have a questions concerning some stuff growing on my rock. In the picture there is a white spongy-feeling material that i have boxed in red, and also the root-like structures you will see. Any idea what either of these things are and if they are harmful or not? the root things are in a few other places in my tank.

also at night it seems these snails come out by the hundreds... any idea what they are? good bad and what removes them if need be? tia -joe

i am guessing those root like structures are sponges.

snails are a tough thing to identify. since they are coming out at night, they are prolly are just algae eaters. do they concentrate in a single area? are they around corals? i would start to get concerned if they are only around certain corals.

no the snails tend to stay on the glass a lot and not in any one specific area... just started getting a little concerned by their numbers

1) agree, sponges
2) basically "mini"-turbo snails. harmless algae grazers. I have some in my tank and have never caused 1 problem at all.

For pic one, the white tail like things are from sponges; and I also think I see some squirts on the rock (top most red box on pic 1 and 2).

A few pics of squirts aka tunicate;

No idea what kind of snails.
