Most people never have an issue but with open sores, or other immune compromised issues take no chances and if you do have a reaction, either an obvious infection or hint at anaphlylaxis seek med help quick.
I have posted in the past about keeping a listof every known coral and critter in your tank, esp if you have fish on the venomous list, ie lions, foxface, anything remotely indicated in envenomation potential, taped to the tank or handy in case you have a bad reaction and spouse comes home to find you passed out on the floor. At least it give the parameds and ER docs something to look for
WOW never thought about doing that.

as a paramedic i have learned to look for these......they are called ICE lists it stands for "In Case of Emergency" you should keep them in your wallet in plain view becuase that is usually the first place i look you can find i.d. and other medical alert information. people even program them into there cell phones nowadays under the contact name I.C.E.(this would be the second place i would look)
they should include Names of people to contact incase of an emergency, allergies, medications, and if possible any pertinent medical history(I.E. heaart surgeries, strokes, diabetes....etc.)

I bashed my knee when going in for a dive on a barnicle. Darn thing was still in there a day later and my knee was letting me know. I squeezed it and it opened up enough that I could see the chunk and my knee cap. I pulled the few little pieces of barnicle out and my knee got better within a few hrs. Scary stuff to mess with if you really think about it. Be safe everyone.

I always use disposable latex gloves and I wear my oakleys when working with my zoas just to be carefull, and wash my hands before and after messing with my tank. So far I havent had any problems.

My step father's friend was thrown off a wave runner on the inter-coastal waterway near Moorehead city NC. He was cut pretty bad by a oyster bar and he was in the hospital for over a month treating an infection. After he got out of the hospital he dragged around a pole with a IV full of antibiotics for another couple of months.

I can see that it could happen and I feel sorry for the guys family.

That's why everyone should learn what they have in there reef tank. If you have a open cut and then stick your hand in the tank and your anemone rubs over your cut. Lets say you can feel its sting! When I touch it with my fingers I don't feel a thing but one time I had a scratch from a cat on my hand and man It stung so bad and swelled up. Then 7 days later my BT anemone died......AN other thing I can never keep a anemone alive. :-(

VERY good point Doug.
I've taken it one step further and asked my wife (ER Nurse)if the ER had anything to go to info/treatment -wise in case a reefer did in fact come in with something bad happening with a tank, she said "yes". (Bear in mind this is only one particular hospital )

Also have this added to your cell phone numbers (ICE/ICE1/ICE2)with the order of who you'd want called in case something happened
