90 gallon BB tank build
I ordered a 90 gallon reef ready AGA tank today. Would've got the 75 gallon but the 90 was on sale for the same price. It should arrive in 3 days. It's official, the 90 gallon tank build has begun

Thanks everyone. Yes, I will be transferring stuff from the current 30 gal to the new tank. Focus will be sps but with some other stuff as well. Pretty much a total build like my 30 gallon tank was. Planning on using the same " clam shell" cabinet design. One thing I think I will do differently is to post detailed instructions so that anyone could reproduce this tank, from the stand construction to the plumbing to the wiring of the lights.
The plan:
90 gal RR AGA tank
custom stand
Bare bottom
29 gal sump
coralife super skimmer
T5HO lighting
Ehiem return pump
Hydor Koralia 4 X 2 for flow in display

WOO HOOO it was your 30 build that helped give me the confidence to help start my 29 build - i think as many details as we can put in our build threads will help others

Thanks Amy! That's a very nice thing to say . If I have the time, I'll do a complete instruction list - I'm talking about what to buy, how much it cost, what size you have to cut the parts to, and how to stick it all together. I want people to be able to mass produce this next tank (you might want to wait until I get all the bugs out first though )! Hopefully, I will pick up the tank tomorrow, got a call that it arrived this morning but didn't have time to get it after work.

Got the tank home yesterday evening, it's alittle taller than I thought it would be, but I'm very happy with it. I think a 90 gallon is a good size tank. For the stand, I'm planning on a "clamshell" design like I did for my 30 gallon tank. Had a planning session with my neighbor last night discussing how to make this stand structural adequate to hold the weight of everything. Looks like I will go with a frame of 2X4's and a skin of either 1/2 MDF or plywood (depends on what is cheaper). We are planning on doing some wood trim around the base and top and corners, and also to add coasters to the bottom. The stand will be in my living room on top of hardwood floors, the coasters will allow me to move the tank in case of a spill or flood and dry the floor. Does anyone see any problems with coasters? I plan on using at least 6 coasters rated for about 300 pounds each. I will go check out the lumber today and see what's available and start buying supplies.

By costers do you mean wheels? Or the sliding things they sell for moving furnature on late night TV?
I know one person that has a 55 on wheels for rolling it around,.. works well for them.
Great build! We will require pics of course

Talking about wheels. Just went to HD and Lowes to price out supplies, pretty much the same price for everything. Lowes seems to have a better plumbing department and more moulding and trim pieces. Prices for sanded plywood seem less than last year when I made my 30 gallon stand.

OK, I have to say that this is taking forever but work is keeping me from getting started on the stand. The tank is here and the lumber is ready to roll but I'll be out of town again this weekend. Here's the tank in all of it's glory on my floor.
Total cost:
