6 or 8 Bulb Tek Fixture

After seeing T5's on a LFS tank tonight, I have decided this is the way I want to go. I want to be able to keep the highest light sps's on the bottom of the tank down the road. My tank is a 75gal AGA RR. Will I be ok with the 6 bulb fixture?

My tank is 20" tall and 18" wide. Will the 8 bulb fixture even fit on their correctly. The dimensions for the fixture is 20" wide, I assume that is the whole fixture and not just the section that the lights are in? I am looking at getting them from reefgeek. Anyone get these cheaper at other places? Any input is appreciated!

Well the trick to maximizing T5s is the individual reflectors. Icecap SLRs are 2.5" wide, so 8 across is 20". I don't think you'd be able to squeeze them over the 75 without overlap, so that's up to you.

Reefgeek is a great place for hardware, though. I've bought a bunch of lighting and control equipment from them and have been very satisfied.

If you want SPS, I would still go with MH's

That is another idea I am kicking around. I would need to build a canopy though. With a MH/VHO hellolights kit, it would come in under 500. That is with XM 10ks for the 250w MH bulbs.

I really do not want to get a chiller in my setup because of the heat from the MH. Are the advanced ballasts included in the hellolights kit any good? I do like the MH shimmer, but like the idea of less heat and wattage from the T5's.

Other opinions?

specialblend27..... thanks for the pictures, that was exactly what I was looking for. I am glad to see that they will fit

What bulb combination are you going with once you have all 8 bulbs?
