6-line wrasse jumped out of my tank...
is it normal for a six line wrasse to jump out of a tank? I came home from work today to find my six line laying on the carpet dead.
I didn't think they were jumpers? What other fish are prone to do this?

Yes, it is common for any wrasse to jump, as well as Gobies, and many other reef fish

6-lines are very active fish . They can startle easy . It's not abnormal for fish to jump out of tanks. Over the years I've had many fish jump out . even with the smallest holes in the back .
They are great fish with great personalities .
I'm sorry for the loss

thanks... what can i do to combat this? that wrasse was great, ate out of my hand, was very friendly...
i've always been weary of glass tops, i've heard there can be air exchange issues. any with the nova extreme fixture sitting on top, i don't think i can build a canopy to seal around the tank.. or can i?

gutter guard works great. You can tac it up around the back. Now......it doesnt look awesome.......but it works great. best fix.........canopy. Thats the reason I have one. My six line wrasse jumped one day.......thought he just died in the tank until I moved my tank a few months later......he was laying behind the tank all shrivled up. I bought a baby this time.....when I bought him he was about half an inch..and hes almost an inch and a half now. I hope you have better luck next time. Gutter guard or hood. Either work great.

ok.. twice in one day... do a search for mcliffy's build thread ( i think it is mcliffy2) and read the thread to see what he did to cover the top of the tank.. he did it the right way.

Is your tank grounded?may be stray voltage.

I've pulled my sixline out of the overflows 3 times...IMO a canopy is the best option to stop jumpers.
