58gal Oceanic RR Tank Build

58gal Oceanic RR Tank Build

Well here are the first pic I will post here on this build. All the pieces arrived this week from our LFS (Olde Town Pets) so here it is: 58gal Oceanic Ultimate Reef Ready (w/ Starphire glass), Oceanic Stand, and Oceanic Canopy. All of the items are in American Solid Oak w/ Black stain. I am planning on running this system with a Mag 9.5 return pump which will be linked to a SCWD in the over flow to produce alternating current. If more current is needed I will use a maxi-jet 1200 w/ the 1600 mod kit I have already laying around or upgrade the pump to a Mag 18 which I already have avail (but could bee too much flow???). Sump and Lighting are still up in the air but I will post my thoughts soon what I have been looking into. This system will have two large rock pillars and should be close to 80-100lbs of live rook (currently been living in my 120 RR). An Aqua C 150 w/ Mag 12 will be the skimmer powerhouse for tank. This entire system is being set up for SPS and LPS with very little softies, IF any. Again this is just to get this going so more to come. Also the CA Reactor was a DIY project I just finished last month from a Berlin XL I had.

Thanks,

Chris

Here are two pics of the set-up out of the boxes. One shows the tank I am going to use as the sump.

Thanks

I am really starting to like the all black look too. I was not sure if it was going to look good, and when it arrived the back was already covered in black from Oceanic (rather than using window tint or paint to cover it). I am thinking my corals colors are going to just “pop” under all the light and against the black. The best part is all this has to be in my new place by the end of the month. So you wont have to wait several months to see it completed. I will be ordering my new light for it here at the end of the month so you would have to wait in that sense for the full effect. I just spent this evening cutting all the fittings and will try to post pics tomorrow of this (too dark in my living room and I don’t like how the pics are turning out with the flash). Well, thanks everyone and it you have any ideas for me let me know.
