58 Oceanic Rebuild

Before I start This build thread I have to thank the person who is making it possible for me to set up this tank. So Josh, Thanks so much.

About a month ago I came home from having some cocktails at a local establishment to find many gallons of water on the floor. Finding a leak when your drunk is never good, well even sober its not good. So I tore everything down and I'm currently storing everything in my 29 gal.

I have a new used 58 gall to replace the old one, a new glass-holes overflow, and a new used stand, all from my buddy Josh. Thanks again. Josh and Glass-holes are my favorite people right about now.

Well I have to go figure out how to post some pics here cause I'm getting a lot of them and I know every body likes pics.

Its actually that gray granite oceanic makes. I still plan on MAYBE painting the stand and trim. But I would like to keep this tank as sleek and modern looking as posible.

Took about 40 min a hole but I took my time and it turned out great. To tell you the truth it was more of a pain to drill the acrylic overflow box. I will have more pics tomorrow of the set up. I had a lot of time to work on the foam/rock background today when the paint was drying on the back of the tank. I really like the fact that the footprint of the tank hasn't changed with the overflow box.

Looks great Jake!! Glass holes got you the drill bit, bulkheads and elbows already!! That is fast shipping! I really like those guys and will be purchasing a new overflow kit for the 150 from them! I am impressed with your plumbing, I may need your input on my system. I love how you brought the return in over the top of the overflow placed in the middle of the tank.

Glad the tank holds water and someone can make use of it.

How long did it take to drill the holes? And yeah drilling the acrylic on mine was a much bigger pain the drilling the glass.

Edit: oops never mind, 40 minutes a hole..

Glass-holes treated me great. Sent everything overnight for me. Awesome! The Plumbing is something that I HATED on my other tank so I had put some good thought into it this time.

Really I'm just trying to keep up with Chris W.'s killer setup.

I'll post some new pics tonight of the foam/rock background, and a little more into the plumbing.

This is something that I have really like ascetically like when I see others do it. The foam/rock background. I didn't want a whole background covered in rock because I painted the back black cause I really like the way my corals look in front of it. This was my second try. The first try was nice looking but I tried to make the back and one side and I could not get it square. It wouldn't look good in the tank so I came up with something else. Oh yeah it floated too. I really like this new one though, but the pics don't look that great.
