55 Gallon Stand plans

Anyone have any good DIY links for 55 gallon stands... I got a circular saw for christmas so I am itching to use it... I see many of them just use simple 2x4 supports and use screws and wood glue... I am going to upgrade soon and this stand would give me something to do in the meantime.. I would like some pretty stand plans, not ugly ones..

clown,
i dont have a basic stand plan. but most that i make for people tey look at the ones inthe stores and ask for something like that. the basic frame has to be strong, good supports. after that it is all dressing. you can use your imagination for that. Try adn skin it ti look like furnitre instead of a "stand" . add raised panel doors to it. a nice bead trim all the way around is soo sweet.
take a look at the AGA website and someof there high end stands. that will give you a good idea on the outside look.
and remember measure 4 or 5 times then cut. and dont forget a 55 is NOT 48 inches ( unless you remove the trim)

Something else to consider is the space under a 55 isnt much. Considering your set up now and what you might want to do in the future, maybe consider making it a bit over sized. I have a good sized stand that the 150 is going on but my chiller and eventual calcium reacor will not fit. It never hurts to give yourself a extra spot o space!

Right now my 55 is on the stand for the 150. Once the big tank is on it there will be three external pumps, a 10 for auto top-off a large sump (with the skimmer in the sump). One of the pumps is VERY large and when you add on the true union ball valves there just isnt any room. The foot pring of the stand is 65x34 and I need more room!
