4-stripe damsel spawned!!

My Dascyllus melanurus spawned today!!!! I was in and out of the house all day but the one time I stopped in I saw them in a corner of the tank they are never in. As I was putting my shoes on I watched the one (my guess now...male) swimming around the other (female) then parallel with the spray bar. I didn't think anything of it...other things on my mind. Tonight I sat down to take a breather and saw that one is still there so I took another look and....Eggs!! All over the spray bar!

The eggs are clear and tiny, but I will try to get a photo of them.

Anyone else have 4-stripe damsel spawn?
So now what!!! Do I even have a chance of saving any?

This is sooo cool my first eggs!!

Kim

Hwy Kimber, congrats on the damsel spawn. Alas the young go thru a larval stage that feeds on micro plankton so the chances are they will be plankton them selves. That is one of the great hurdles to rearing most SW fish, tho if they keep spawning you might try isolating them in a dedicated tank and find a food the babies can eat

Wow congratulations!!! I know how exciting that "iminent grandparenthood" feeling is

Doug is right, you might not be able to save this bunch, but I'm sure your corals will enjoy them.

IF you are interested in the intensive labour and heartbreak of raising fry, (believe me, I'm there right now with seahorses!), you might want to look into culturing some rotifers for them.

It's a labour of love and the learning curve can be very steep but very rewarding if you have any level of success.

Right now my goal is to get a seahorse baby past day 15. If I can do that I'm making progress.

Today is day 6....
