$26.50 Refractometer...

Just got one for $18.50 plus $8.00 shipping. The guy selling them seems to sell quite a few. They usually sell for $20 to $30. I sniped mine at @ $25...got it at $18.50.

Here is the link to the one I got...

Nice, I was shocked when I got my refracto to find that my Deep 6 hydrometer was 4 points off, reading 1.025 was actually 1.029!

I always recommend people pick up a refracto, good call.

P.S. don't forget to calibrate it, they can be knocked out by shipping, so check that before trusting any measurements.

ya, but it is simple, get some RO/DI water, or distilled water, put it on the viewing glass and read through the instrument. The reading should be 0, if not adjust the calibration.

There is a way to mix up salt and check the calibration at read point too, but I think the normal 0 test, and comparing against somebody else is fine.
