220 in-wall build

I have recently relocated my 90 gal to another room to make way for a 220 in-wall tank. The tank is now set up and the cabinet is ready for stain and poly. The cabinet is floor to ceiling with front access to the top of the tank as well as sump below (the doors are not yet installed). As I begain sanding today, it occured to me that I neglected to measure the openings where the cabinet face would be removed from the wall and taken up from the basement to the garage for finishing. That means the cabinet must either be finished in the basement or the top of the cabinet will need to be cut and the swing up door modified (the later is not the first choice).

I am not all that concerned with fumes from the stain, but I am concerned about the poly. Does anyone know whether the fumes will be absorded into the tank? Would it be safer to use a water based poly and would there be fume absorbtion?

Looks good. I've done stain and poly on the tank while it was running. I just ventilated well and did it in sections. Never had a problem that I was aware of. I used the low fume poly.

The cabinet has now been stained. It has been fastened to the ceiling using L brakets on the back side. This will allow me to finish both sides at the same time. The cabinet will have six coats of spar urethane. Six days to finish instead of twelve. The second shot is the trim and the swing up door frame.

Hey Vince, nice shots of the new house. Looks nice and peacful out there.

Really pretty, Deb... I still need to get over and have a look at this tank!
