2003 TRT Picnic

Well, we are already into March and it is definately time to start thinking about the picnic. First I wanted to see how the weekend of the 14th of June worked for everyone.

We did a poll a few months back and it seemed the Atlanta Ga or Florida area got the most votes. Jon's parents have two condos in the Jensen Beach/Port St. Lucie area that we may be able to use. They are both right on the beach on Hutchinson Island. You can fly into Orlando (hour and a half away), West Palm Beach (40 mins), Fort Lauderdale (60 mins) or Miami (2-3 hours).

Otherwise the Atlanta area would also be good. We have a lot of people in that area and surrounding states and flights into Atlanta are very cheap these days. We would need someone to host in the Atlanta area.

I know the summer isn't the best time. If the June dates aren't good please make some suggestions and we'll see what we can come up with.

One thing that made the picnic fun last year was combining it with a local club picnic.

June 14th? Hm... I'm supposed to go to a wedding. But maybe if I just send a really nice gift... I will have finished my board exams by then, so maybe we can make the trip.

That's pretty rude... what about somewhere in the PNW? I'm kind of torn between Hotlanta and some sunny Florida beach. Been to both areas and liked both. I was planning on taking a vacation around then but since I totaled the car last weekend... we'll see how the finances work out.

Florida would be a great opportunity to get together a dive or snorkling trip - depending on if you're certified or not(for diving that is )

So what foods and beverage is going to be served at this picnic since it is going to be in Alanta (wishful thinking)

Also where will we hold all of these people whether it takes place in Florida or Atlanta. Let me know what I need to bring besides the big 60 gallon Igloo Marine ice chest for frags .

Dave...we had it in your neck o' the globe last August! C'mon down and enjoy Southern Hospitality, even if some of us have some Yankeeness running through our veins.

I can bring my tent... (I can see it now ..librarian in tent welcomes folks from PNW...)

Jesen Beach sounds good to me, nothing like waking up in the morning to a sunrise with an ocean view, also only 2 to hrs. from Islamorada.

Looks like ATL is still the big winner.

If we can't find someone to host we can always crash a hotel..which wouldn't be quite as fun

If anyone in the Atlanta area has a house near some hotels, pool/hottub is nice but not required, unless you are Veronica...hehe.

TRT will help with expenses, etc. please e-mail o msg me if you are interested.

Thanks!
Brooke

Brooke,

We could hold it a Stone Mountain Park. They have two main picnic areas and it is an impressive structure. Just a suggestion. Here is a link to the park.

Of course Atlanta Metro/Marietta area has a lot of options. I wonder if JennM or RickO have any suggestions.
