"2002 TRT Expedition to Balayan Bay Reefs" :-)
Fellow TRT'ers
I'm heading back out to the reefs of Batangas at long last.
Deaths in the family, illness, security concerns and just plain workload have kept me from snorkelling the reef for too long. But all those concerns are gone now.
I'll spend the next week snorkelling and collecting data to post here. Very informal stuff, mind you!!
Water velocity, temp and luminance, probably at 4 hour intervals.
...in at least three different locations, over a 4-day period, with pics of the recording environment too, hehe.
Yes, those 4-days of readings are like taking a still from a movie and trying to decipher the plot and cast from just that one pic... but at least it's summer, and peak growing time for the corals. The night readings should be interesting, if a little dangerous (I can't afford automated recording stations ).
Like I said, just a lighthearted expedition.
I may collect a few things too!
horge, dark
PS: those who know me well, may remember I have a pretty severe fear of the water and of drowning, hehe. Trauma from too many close calls in years past. I'm okay after the first few minutes in the water though.
Wish me a calm head while I'm out there!

Horge,
Great that you are going to have this getaway to the reef! I know you need a break.
BTW, if you need someone to hold the light meter (except at night ), send me a round-trip ticket and I'll be glad to oblige!
Enjoy, Amigo,
Dick

Cool!
Don't forget salinity...and the effect of that big ocean skimmer on available zooplankton levels .
Have fun, be careful and take lots of pics!!

I would kill to be a fly on the wall - with a camera, oh, and a flash.
Have a great time Bud. You're right, it has been a long time.
Too long!

Have a nice trip....
It is very nice there in Balayan Batangas. I used to live about an hour and a half away and all the beaches over there are nice, very nice fine sand and clear water. You should try going to Boracay and Palawan. I have never been snorkling yet but I bet it would be nice. Try to post pictures of the vacation. Have fun......

Horge;
Are the results of these findings for your own studies and curiosity? Whatever the reason may be, thank you in advance for sharing them with us.
Enjoy!

Thanks, folks!
Alice, the "data" is just something to pass the time
And something that may be of curious interest to TRT'ers.
The flippers are a radioactive blend of orange and fuschia, actually.
Serious!
