And my pH appears to be around 8.7 (using a tablet test kit). I assume this is too high to start curing my live rock when it comes later this week?

pH is kinda confusing... I wouldn't worry to much about it for the LR
it should drop anyways I think.
is the salinity correct?
what is your salt mix?

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure if it was anything to worry about or not. I went with Oceanic on the salt and my salinity is 1.024, with the temp at 78.

How long has the water been in the tank, What kind of water did you use to start with. The curing process is going to really mess up the water parameters and your gonna have to do water changes anyway, But check the ph on your source water before salt is added if it has the high ph you may need to switch source water.
