i will consider the larger skimmer options and keep all things in perspective. I am definately going to ask some people that have a lot of experience with these skimmers before I make any purchase that big!
maybe not to go totally overkill I could try this one http://www.oceansflooraquatics.com/i...products_id=98
on the 2x1260 it looks like the neck jumps up to 5-6" and It gets a little tall. To fit through my door the stand is going to have to be around 28" tall and after the floor and the thickness of the sump 25.5" will probably be too tall. That thing looks legit though rated for 700g

that elos looks suspiciously like a grotech... that thing is ultra mod just not too sure about the actual functionality of that design. don't worry you got me thinking... thinking the new tech is hard to pass up of the ATB med cone. I might have to give Victor a shout and see about it.

lol... me too. it's probably the last piece of equipment I need to buy, but will probably be the first just so I can look at it for a few months! I do not have very many priorities as you may be able to tell by this thread so far!

I need to add more pics to spark the interest in this thread I believe so I can get some more interest and criticism. Tonight I am planning on taking pics of my tank in its current state, the equipment and inhabitants, then redo my sketchup design to get the finalized quote and feedback from the builder. Thats a lot for one night so I'll be pretty happy if i get one or the other done.

I know what you mean, I bought my reeflo 250 back in february... today I find out that they have started included the dart gold pumps instead of regular darts with the skimmer

ok everything but the euro brace but i gotta call it a night. the new external dimensions are 60x30x24 if all goes as planned so far. The brace is planned the same as it was, the keyholes just take some time to sketchup in.

Looks nice. Why not put those return holes in the eurobrace? Or are those for a closed loop?

i wanted the return holes in the back bc my tank will be without a canopy and the view across the top part of the tank is just as important to leave smooth as the interior for me. I do not really want a return up and over the top. I am against closed looping it if at all possible. I'm thinking 4 6100 or 2 6100 and a wavebox. thinking around 1200 gph split between the returns.

That makes sense....so are you having holes drilled in the brace to deal with the wires from the Tunzes (to keep the top clean)?

I agree with the clean view accross the top but here is something to consider. If and when your return pump shuts off water will drain (siphon) back down those return pipes until it sucks air and breaks the siphon. Hard to tell from the drawing but if the return lines are far below the surface it might drain a LOT of water back into the sump. The solution may be to get a little creative with a smaller tube teed off from your return tube and terminated close to the surface to act as a siphon break. I'm sure there are some other solutions that might be better.

the returns will be placed as close to the water line as possible and the sump will be able to handle all water that will drain in a power failure event. If i need to drill a siphon break I will work this out, but hopefully it won't be needed.
the keyholes for the tunze wiring are still in the plan I just haven't drawn the new eurobrace in sketchup yet. it will be just like the brace in the original drawing.
i had considered external boxes for all the tunze's to hide all the pumps in the interior but I am concerned with the integrity of the back wall if it starts to look like swiss cheese.

I have looked into the atb medium w/airstar pump skimmer. this should be on the cutting edge of technology for some time to come and do a heck of a job skimming this tank. I also just really like the look of the skimmer and Victor from RC seems to be doing a really great job with customer service... so I am now strongly considering this skimmer for this build.
