10 gallon project tank...
well why am i building a 10 gallon when i just started a 35 hex less than 3 months ago. the answer is.... i have no clue. but this should be fun. i thought the idea up today while i was playing video games. its gonna be like a room divider tank only smaller. i dont think i want to go with a sump for this one but the design will let me hide a power filter. i want to go with a drywall outsidde that way i can paint them the same color as the room. but i dont know if im going to go that route.
picked up the wood tonight so tomorrow look for some pics! but for now here are the plans.

Sounds like a cool design!
You dont even need a power filter- use just a CPR backpack skimmer or other non- skilter hang on skimmer and a powerhead in the tank.
Just remember to take it slow and make sure you can keep up with the other tanks as well!

Yup, Kid, sometimes we don't really know why we start a new project. Ditto on going slow. If you go the CPR route, be sure to toss out the Rio that is included and use a MJ 1200 instead.

I believe they now come standard with the MJ,
but yes, ditto on that if it comes with a rio.

Looks good so far. Reminds me of the stand design for my 30 and 90 gallon tank builds. Honestly, If you can change it, I would switch to a 20 gallon long tank. It's still really shallow, doubles your volume, and will make more sense as a room divider. T5HO's might be overkill for such a shallow tank, even for acropora. I have found that T5HO's are too much in my 30 gallon tank and had to adjust for that. If you do go with T5's, then you may want to leave one or two reflectors off or mount the bulbs a little higher off the water than usual.

it was inspired by your design. i wish i could go with a 20 long but to late now. how ever i might still be able to bull off a 20 high. its really not going to be used as a room divider just that kinda 3 sided tank look.

Does a 20 tall have the same footprint as a 10 gallon tank? If so, I would definitely do that instead of the 10. Don't know much at all about seahorses except that they are hard to keep because they prefer live food.

all that i could find in the lights were the sun blaze brand that are 24" long but very skinny.
I thought that you could mount them so that say two fixtures aould be sticking out into the frame of the stand and so when you open the top the lights just swivel on the joint. the parts that are inside the stand will just tip down a little as you lift the top.
