10 gallon custom sump

all i can fit under my 20 is a 10 gallon sump. is it worth setting one up? how much flow (gph) would i need going into the sump and how do i figure how strong of a pump i need? also does anyone know of anone has ever used a power filter as a means of getting water to the sump? any ideas would be appreciated on sump design. thanks.

You need to drill the tank or have an overflow to get water down.

My 15G has a 10G sump, you can click the link in my sig to see the pics of the build.

It is definitally worth it! I move about 200 GPH through mine, which is a bit too much for such a small tank I think,... you would be fine with 100-200.

Heck my 70 is runing through a 10g sump. Soon to be ugraded to a super dooper 15g sump dubed "the fragfugium". Any volume addition is worth it and it's a place to keep unsightly equip out of the main display.

I made a 10 gallon custom sump for my 29 gallon when ever i get around to building a stand for it and drilling it and making a canopy.

But yes a 10 gallon sump isnt bad.

sumps are great for getting equpment out of the display, but there are negative sides too. like noise, and the flooding possibility. i had no choice with mine i needed a sump if i wanted to run a skimmer(eurobracing), but if i could have i probably would have done without it
