1 week cycle?is it possible?

iam upgrading from a 25gal acrylic hex to a 90gal. glass aquarium(rectangle)due to constantly having headaches with parameters and algea. On this setup a bought 55lbs of live uncure rock with 25lbs of live sand.added water and salt mix from instant ocean and turned on my return pump from sump using no protein skimmer just live sand going thru the refugium, kept lights off for two days and had lately increased to 5hrs today in one week.iam just confused i had been checking for ammonia but been at zero so i furthered my water check having 0ppm ammonia 0ppm nitrite but somehow 40ppm nitrate.oh and had also added 2 damsels at the start of adding water.but is this just from rock being transferred to my new aquarium or is it possible that it cycled dramaticly all of a sudden?if so what should i do next?should i perfom a water change and purchase some nitrate eating algea or should i wait for a full month before going further?

I would wait and keep an eye on the water parameters to make sure it wasn't a fluke test reading. But, if you transferred from a 25 to a 90 and added rock, it could have mini-cycled that fast but how long it will take uncured rock to cure depends on the rocks.

Someone should move this thread to GRD.

Welcome to TRT!!

there are more cycles going on in a newly setup system than just the nitrogen cycle.

there is the ugly stage that happens in the first couple of months. i would wait at least a month before putting anything into the system.
