!!Nano Seehorse tank!!

Yeah, another seahorse tank question thread srry

I Run a 55gal reef tank right now, its a year old and is doing just fine so far.

I have always wanted seahorse, even before i started saltwater business but a trip to a store got me thinking about seahorse again . i really want to try them out.

I have been reading around allot, on this forum, and other websites such as seahorse.org..etc..

While i was at this fish store, they told me "yeah, these tank raised seahorse will do just fine in your 55gal reef tank, just get some sea plants and sponge to create an environment for them. I honestly didn't believe that and came home.

If it is impossible for me to put them in a 55gal, i want to make a separate tank, a nano tank.. something which is 10gal or less. I dont really want much "reef" in it, just simple lighting, some Live rock, live sand, plants.. and seahorse.

I was looking at the dwarf seahorse for a start, i know feeding them is hard but i think i want to take the challenge.

I will be posting pictures of everything, from empty tank to adding the seahorse.

Please leave me with tips and stuff.. I am also willing to hear the disadvantages. If you think you can, please try to scare me away from starting this project because if its REALLY that bad of an idea, i might reconsider.

PLEASE post and share your thoughts, I will continue my research but i just want general idea on what i would need.

They need low flow and twig like rock or gorgonians and things like that the put their tails around. Also wouldnt put them in with any other fish, i think a pair of dwarf seahorses would do fine in a 10 gallon. If you want to you can get a light like this one http://www.energyfederation.org/loa/...2411_2414_3803 and have the tank be a planted tank with sponges, and plants for the seahorses to hang out in. Also you could get chaeto in that tank and let the tank run for like 2 months and let the pods build up alot and then the seahorses will have lots to eat. Just one of my ideas. Good luck!

I'm working on the same thing in our 29 cube. Been at it around 9-10 months, the same amount of time as our 120. I've been putting most of my effort, time and $$$ into the 120, so the seahorse cube is coming slowly. only some star polyps and xenia in there now.

Seahorse.org is a great site. At this point I'm not planning on having any other fish/inverts in the tank, but I guess we'll see.

Just taking it s...l...o...w. but in a few months I'll take the plunge.
