yay!!!!!!!

Well, my 75 gallon is being filled up with RO water right now. It's going to take a day and a half to fill up, so I'll keep everyone informed on whats going on. Finally!! I have been waiting since July!! I am so hoping to keep SPS corals (my aquarium should be cycled really well by December 1, which is my b-day. so maybe you know, I could get a coupla easy sps corals?lol), especially since now I have a 175 watt metal halide (I am using an aqualine 10000 with spider reflector...however, I purchased the wrong ballast, so anyone have a pulse start ballast?). I know I know. I always kinda blend two different topics into one post, but why make two? Anyway, I am just really excited and thought I would share.

Noel,

Congrats on the new tank!

If you want my opinion, I'd shy away from the SPS for at least 6 months - or longer if this is your first reef. Believe me, 6 weeks is often not enough - even if you've been with the SPS for years. 10 weeks after my new tank has been up, I got hit with a hella cyano outbreak. I've lost a few frag-sized acros - I'm no "expert", but I've been keeping them for years. I've seriously redefined my terms as to what experience will allow you to get away with. Maybe it's just bad luck .

It's better to wait it out and add some "easier" corals - like many "LPS" or softies. They seem to be much more forgiving with newer setups. In the end, you'll be glad you waited and frustration won't get the better of you. I know it's cliche, but nothing good happens quickly...

I think I will do that. I have my 25 still running with s**t loads of xenia, those blasted things! I also have GSP's, button polyps, and a frogspawn. I also just added a strawberry Pseudochromis today, beautiful fish (I thought my blue damsel was going to harass this one, no its the othe rway around). I want my water quality to be superb before I start to add SPS corals. Time will tell. My aquarium just got done filling with RO water a couple hours ago. My dad and I spent an hour rinsing 100 lbs of sand and putting it in. Then I threw in a couple pieces of live rock and a cup full of live sand just to give it a kick start.
