18AWG solid wire is hard to find.

However, 14g solid which is just a little bit bigger still slips into the end caps just fine and can be bought at HD either by the foot or like $10 for a spool.......

I have 2 sets of new ones (Icecap) you can stop by and pick up for what I paid for them on Marinedepot. They have standoffs with them. 15.99 a set i think sounds right. You know where Im at I ll be home all night.

Menards has 18 AWG solid ask for doorbell wire, comes in 25 foot coils for about $5.

It's not too big. I've used it for years with VHO endcaps both the German and Italian endcaps.

Fahz, I'll keep that in mind. Always good to know examples that the Home Improvement store workers can relate too.......

Yep, I picked some up on Sunday to wire up my canopy. It's two-colored (red/white) and the coating sheild isn't melded together IIRC so you can run it exactly where you need it. It's up in their electrical level sort of near the household wiring but not exactly with it.

I'm just bringing this topic back up with my findings as some of you may be using this wire or do a search and find this thread.

I'm wiring up a couple of T5 ballasts, I did find the Doorbell wire as mentioned at Menards. However, it says on it low-voltage.

I know Icecap only recommends wire rated for 600volts. I have no idea long term what would happen by using the doorbell wire being low-voltage.

Therefore I passed on buying the wire and used the 14g solid wire I already had that is rated for 600Volts. 14g still slips into the endcaps and my ballasts just fine.

22g is smaller than 18g.

Most ballast specifically say 18g solid wire. I'd rather go slighter bigger than smaller.......
