WTB:Canister filter or...

Basically looking for something I can use as a glorified vacuum cleaner for my sump. The sump sits at ground level so a siphon is pretty much a PITA. I'd like to have something that I can vacuum detrius out with while returning the water back to the sump. I have an auto top off system and also an auto water xchange system so I don't really want to siphon out to waste while cleaning as well.
I've thought of using an old MAgnum canister filter or something. Anyone use anything similiar, or something different that would do the trick? Anyone have anything laying around they want to sell? I'm keeping an eye on other SALE boards but would prefer to go local if possible.
