WTB 60g Hex or normal 50-60g tank(w/ lighting)
I'm looking at upgrading my tank. I'd like to buy a 60g Hex. Does anyone have a used one lying around somewhere? or know of a place where I can get one for cheep? If I were to get a normal tank that size I'd need to buy new lighting. I only have a budget of around 300$ so if anyone has a MH lighting setup lying around that they don't want and a decent sized tank let me know.

I had a nice 60 hex reef spring a leak about half way down on one of the seams at my office in 1994, 30 gallons of water on the floor. That's how I ended up with my 120, had to rush out and get a tank that day so I upgraded. Worked out well in the end. I'd be nervous about a hex though, lots of seams.

Well I liked the way the hex's look and my lighting would fit over the hex. I would go with another tank(maybe a somthing around 50-60g) but I doubt I could get away with a tank and new lights for around 300$. Unless someone has a good deal.

I could prolly hook you up with a 55 with tank, stand, oak canopy and 220w PC lighting for under that, but it's 4.5 hours away from you.

Like Kevin mentions, Hex are notorious for not lasting very long. I had one for about 3 years before it started leaking.....Best to stick with a rectangular shape tank for a reef where the joints are all 90degrees.....

Had a 55 hex for 5-6 years and never had a leak, but i found it to be very limiting on what i could put it in as far as corals and livestock. Had room vertically , but very little horizontal.

Well I am pretty much talked out of the Hex. If I get lighting I'm looking to get MH lights. I want something better then PC(what I currently have).

Think about getting a 40 breeder from Jerry (JnS) Great deal, drilled, and a good amount of money left over for some sweet lighting for it.

Try to find a 58g. That's a very nicely sized tank, and it can be lit with only one MH.

I also have a 65gallon oceanic tank with no center brace, but have to find out what the wife wants to do with it.
