Wow did I screw up or what!

I dismantled my 58 gallon holding tank yesterday evening. I wanted to take the live rock out and put it in my 220 gallon, and use some of the equipment on my 20 gallon long propogation tank that I am setting up. The tank still had (to my knowledge) 1 chromis, but originally had 3 chromis, one of them had a run in with my powerhead and the other was MIA along with a damsel when I had a snowflake eel in the tank. I first took the live rock out, carefully checking all cracks and crevices for any life hiding out. Then I started looking for the chromis. The tank light had stopped working long ago, so all I had was a flashlight. I soon found the chromis and put him in my 220 gallon. Then later as I was checking the 58 gallon once more before I drained the water I saw another chromis! I swept him up out of the tank, and put him in the 220 gallon. This morning I got up and started whatching the 220 gallon, when I saw what I thought was a DAMSEL!! Sure enough, it was a damsel, and I immediately realized what had happend. Becuase of the cooling tank temperatures in the 58 gallon ( I had already removed the heater) The Damsel had lost some of it's color (from stress) and I mistook it for a chromis!! So now I have a Damsel in my 220 gallon !!

So I think that I am going to go right for the jugular here, I will be picking up a small fishing hook and fish him out!

I still can't believe how dumb this mistake is, I've been kicking myself all day!

I have had different yellow tails and blue damsels and they always got along fine with everything but my purple psuedochromis in there and they the psuedo kicked thier buts.

Is there rock in there then? If so, have fun trying to catch him.

Look for flyfishing hooks. You may have to order them. Size 20,18, or 16 would likely fit into its mouth.
I have done this before with a Pygmy angel. I used a sz16 hook, 2 lb super thin Trilene Icefishing line, an icefishing rod, and a bit of Mysis shrimp as bait. Too bad I caught the female Clarkii twice before the Angel bit.

You'll find that the chromis is stupid and will keep biting the bait

You can also try feeding your tank in front of a powerhead. Let the food drift in front of the net, and catch the food in the net. Sooner or later (hopefully sooner), the fish will get comfortable with the net and you'll be able to catch it. I was able to do this to catch a purple tang recently. Hope it works...

Speaking of which I have a Blue Damsel and a yellow tail damsel that I need a home for.... they do seem to play well with others.... i.e. false perc, green mandarin, bangaii, copperband, yellow-headed jawfish, etc... These are all fish that I have had in the tank with both of these fish... They even play well together. If anyone is interested in either or both just let me know.
