Question

Who has????

Their tank on Pergo laminate flooring? If so what size is it? Just want to make sure it is ok to set up this way? Does anyong think I should put a rug under the tank hanging out around the edges?

I do and no problems here. Although I don't much care about the floor and I will never use it again. I find it no more durable than a real hardwood floor.

We were going to put my tank on pergo but kept the carpet there. I would still put some kind of rug, carpet remnant underneath to protect the floor. Just a thought from a newbie.

I have mine on laminate and haven't had any issues. I've had a couple water mishaps but nothing serious and there are no ill effects from it.

i think when you spill a rug might just wick water under the stand where it cant dry out and mess up the floor. this is just a guess though ...

I put rugs around mine

Steve, I've had a 72 bowfront on laminate flooring for about a year and a half now and have had no problems. I recommend getting those foam/felt pads you put under furniture legs. You can get them in 4"x6" sheets at home depot, cut them into the width of your stand perimiter material and stick them to the bottom. This does two things for you. One, it keeps you from damaging the flooring and two, it allows you to slide the tank around without completely emptying it out. I've moved my tank completely full with just a couple people. Nice if you need to add on a piece of equipment behind your tank and need more space. Also, the pergo can handle getting wet, but you need to wipe it up otherwise it can get into the seems and swell up pretty bad. My brother learned that the hard way. Good luck, hope I've helped.

I wouldn't put a carpet under it unless it had a rubber backing. The moisture will stay too long and ruin your flooring. We have a tank over our hard wood floor, I just have a rubber backed rug in front of it....this catches the drips from my arms as I am working in the tank. Other spills are quickly and easily wiped up because there is no carpet, so far so good.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
