Which Macro lens for a Nikon D50?

I finally threw in the towel and gave up on my old Sony 1.3mp Cybershot. Try as I might I could never get reasonable shots of the tank etc. I was trying to take some pics for Derek tonight to identify some corals and it just didn't go too well.

In a fit I ran over to Costco and bought a Nikon D50 kit. I haven't had a chance to take any photos with it but from what I can see the standard 18 to 55mm lens won't do the nice macro stuff I'd like. Anyway does anyone have a suggestion for an ideal macro lens that would allow super close shots and where to buy it? There seems to be a lot of problems with some of the online vendors.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kevin

I don't have an answer for you on the lens (looking for the same myself), but talk to the folks at West Photo. They'll give you the lowdown with out a bunch of b.s.

A little test shot with the lights off in the tank and the standard 18-55 lens.
