Where to Buy Pods?
Anyone know where to buy pods? For some reason my pod population has gone down drastically. I have a scooter blenny that is a year old now that is getting quite skinny. My chaeto in my fuge is turning brownish also. Any Ideas?

Scooter blennys have the same diet as Mandarins, and we all know how difficult Mandarins can be to keep fat and happy. What size tank is the little scooter blenny in? My guess is that your scooter blenny has desimated your pod population which will most likely never recover with the scooter blenny still in the tank. If you were to take the scooter blenny and place him in a tank that is large with a good pod population and then seed your own tank with pods, wait until your pod population is booming then bring the scooter blenny back into your tank you might have success. I assume the little guy doesn't eat prepared food, if he does, then definitely boost your feedings or the little guy won't make it. Just as many say to those trying to keep Mandarins, I wouldn't even try to keep one in a tank that is less than 90 gallons, but that is just my personal opinion and I have heard of some rare exceptions.

Or he could just come on by the reef meeting tomorrow and I would be happy to give him a bag of macroalgae which should have a good amount of pods in it. It depends on if he is trying to just seed his tank with pods, or if he is actually trying to stock the tank with pods.

You need to provide some tank information to get some proper advice. Buying more pods is NOT going to fix your problem.

I have a 72 bowfront and have had this guy for over a year now. I have a refugium with chaeto and had an excellent population of pods awhile ago. It just seems like they went away.I have a sand sifting star which I know I should have gotten rid of a long time ago.The scooter has been very fat and healthy until just recently so I don't know whats up.He does eat frozen cubes that I feed with too. I am getting some new chaeto at the meeting so hopefully this will help, but I am still going to buy some pods just in case. Thanks for all the info guys! See ya at the meet.

You can get your pods back but it's going to take a while. I suggest you try this approch other wise your going to lose him for sure. They say scooters will eat mysis shrimp and I suggest you use Hikari as it is the highest quality not full of phosphates. I saved my Marderin this way and now my pods are back but I still feed him this way.

How much live rock do you in the tank? You might also try 'pod piles'. Stack some rubble rock in out of the way places. This will give the pods a breeding ground that is safe from predators.
Having all the pods dissappear quickly could be a sign that something is wrong with the tank, in terms of stability.
