Whats this? (pic inside)
I never realized how hard it was to take good pics that are color accurate! If the guy in this pic below was purple with green tips, would it be considered a green-tipped purple hairy mushroom ? I have looked around the web and at the LFS several times and never seen one.

Possibly a Majano anenome but is hard to tell from the pic. Did you buy it or did it just appear on the rock? If it is a majano get rid of it.

It just appeared, but shortly after I did a trade where I was supposed to get a purple hairy mushroom but I never found it. Maybe this is it? Its soft and when its distressed it closses up into a ball with its little green fingers bunched up and poking out of the center. It doesn't seem to move much at all and this is the only one in the tank. Looks nice too because it floureces under my actinics ... anyone else seen one of these?

http://melevsreef.com/id/kritter2.html Look at the majano in the pic and see if it is similar.

Everything I have seen looks nothing like majano ... I DID see my exact critter a while ago at Har Mar in one of there tanks. Didn't look for the name though

If it helps, its about the size of an oreo cookie and getting bigger. I have had it for about 6 months now and its gone from a dime size since I noticed it to oreo size now. Not too much growth, but noticable growth for sure.

if it hasn't multiplied in 6 months its prolly a safe bet that its a mushroom-THE mushroom you've been missing. i was majano weary at first too but maybe it ain't...

I hope its something worth keeping, I like it. But I would also like to know what it is ya know? Do mushrooms flutter slowly with the current? This thing is real soft, translucent, and doesn't move much but CAN close up shop and look whithered if threatened or if I add to much kalk at a time

The majano would have multiplied quite a bit real fast. And they usualy are smaller then even half an oreo. I think it's a mushroom too.

I think it's a the hairy purple shroom. It's kind of hard to tell by the pic but there is a forking of the tentacles (not sure if that's the anatomical term). Can you post an updated pic with it expanded more?
