Question

What to put into a 20g tank...

So, I have a 20g tank that has been freshwater fish community for the last 7+ years, and It's fallen on dark times since getting the saltwater tank up about a 1.5 year ago and needs restocking. I'm trying to come up with something cool to put into it since freshwater are "boring" now that I've made the move to marine.

In the past I've had "standard" FW fish, but the 2 that topped the list of many were angels, or my Tiger Oscar. I'm done with "regular" FW fish and either want something with personality or that's interesting to look at.

The setup will probably be:
  • Magnum canister filter
  • No sump
  • Regular florescent lighting
  • HOB skimmer (if any at all)
I'm open to (actually thinking about) switching it to a very basic SW setup if I can find the right livestock. I've been kicking around a peacock mantis as they are quite interesting, but I haven't done any real homework on them just yet.

Basically I want something cool that I can't put in the main tank but can live in a 20g satellite tank. Post up your ideas if you have any.

Royal Grammas tend to be interesting when in a tank alone (hide a lot less than with tank-mates). same with the dottyback/psudocromis.

What do you mean by satellite? Will it be connected to a larger system or not?

No, wouldn't be connected. Just another SW tank.
