what is this big black thing ?


so i found this in my HoB fuge yesterday. its about 2 inchs across about an inch wide and maybe a half inch thick. the foot looks like snail from underneath but the top is black thin and kinds ripples like a manta ray does...

Limpet- Some can be harmful to corals. I had one eat part of an sps.

like others said, it looks like a limpet. I dont think the type that you have will cause any harm. they seem to be harmless aglae grazers.

im gonna have to say no on the limpet it dosnt look anything like it its probaly a nudi a limpet has a distinct pyramid shape that dose not.

That is a black mantle limpet. I think they are sometimes called elephant snails. I had over 100 in my 125gal. Never seen a problem, nice grazers.

ok so the other day this thing clogged one of my overflows and water started spilling all over : ( thank god i was home and heard it right away. needless top say he got the flush.
