What is the Best Superglue?

I was just at one of the local mega hardware stores shopping for superglue to attach sps frags. I have been using the "Elmer's Super Glue Gel". It costs about $1.58 for a two pack at Menard's.

What do you think is the best superglue for attaching frags? Where do I find it? And, what is a good price?

Also, it is seems that cyanoacrylate is the main ingredient in most of the "Normal" superglue. There were other glues that claimed to be 4 times as strong as super glue but has a different ingredient--are these other glues safe for the reef tank?

If you want instant gratification, just buy a large tube of CA gel from Hub Hobby Supply. It'll cost you about $7.50. The zap works well, too, but after using both, I really can't tell a difference between the two.

I have used a few different brands and now am using the zap gel. Seems like it's working good.

I've never glued any of my corals to rocks, instead just wedged them between rocks or into holes or just set them on a flat area. Things like acroporas and galaxias grow onto the surrounding rocks to adhear but that can take time. I've always been afraid to hold the corals out of the water unless it's for an extremely brief time while putting it in etc.

With that in mind how do you actually glue frags onto the rocks? Are you taking them out of the water, applying the glue, letting it set a minute and putting them back in or can these glues be applied in the tank without issue?

Otolith, am I out of the dog house yet? These Tech CB bottles are getting expensive : ).

I take the rock out and the frag out and dry both the areas where there will be glue. I put the glue on both peices as quickly as possible. Then I put the two peices together and put the whole thing in a bowl of water so that at least the super glue is under water. I read somewhere that the super glue heats up quite a bit when setting and read that it is best to get it under water soon as possible to avoid to much stress on the coral. I just put them in a bowl of water instead of the tank til it hardens up.

Good luck finding this stuff. Everytime I look at Hub, the store manager says "some reef-geek bought it all".

The Bob Smith stuff that logical mintioned is the stuff Hub & other hobby stores in town sell as the store brand. FWIW when I was doing stuff in the hobby industry Bob Smith manufactured glue for most of the other companies or so we were told.
