What is the best heater?...

What is the best aquarium heater?

This winter have have had some problems holding my tank temperature. The heat in my house is on a program and is set at 62 F for about 18 hours per day. I want to maintain my temp at 80 F but it drops to 76 or 77. The tank is a 90 gal. It is currently heated with a 300 watt Ebo Jager.

I am considering purchasing one of the following:
Titanium Heater

http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/.../9082/cid/2215

Won Brothers Pro-Heat Titanium II – Digital 350 watt

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...y_Code=Wonheat

I see that the Won Brothers have a bad rep for customer service.

Does anyone have experience with either of these? What do you think works best? How large of a heater should I get?

Thanks!

I have the proheat II digital 350 watt heater on my 220 (with a little help from a 250 watt piece of crap rena cal) and I love it! I used to have it on my 90 gallon hexagon tank, and it kept the water temp within 3 tenths of a degree, I would recommend. I also found that the temp read out was very accurate as well, but this could vary.

I have two of the proheat II digitals. The one I bought 1 year ago reads in tenths. The one I bought 3 months ago does not read out in tenths even though the box shows tenths. I called up WON and asked if it was defective. After deciphering her jinglish, I was told they changed the circuit board display and they do not read out in tenths anymore.

I do like the heaters though.

Chuck, I have a 300W ( or 350W can't remember ) Won one ( not the digital readout - the older one with the dial ) you can have to supplement your existing heater. Let me know. I have had 4-5 of them and never a problem however, I would feel most comfortable if using a temp controller in addition to the thermostat that is built into the heater....

Thanks Dave.

I think that sounds like a plan. I have a temp controller that I'm not currently using.

I'll PM you and set up a time to drop by unless you want to come over and see the XM 10,000 MHs in action.

I also have a Won Bros Pro-heat I. It is a 500w that I use on my 58. The tank is upstairs but the sump is downstairs where it is usually a little cooler. I have never had a problem with the heater. however I managed to spike it once flipping a breaker and it zapped it out. I sent it out for a warranty replacement and I just paid like $9 in shipping and they sent me a new one. The turnover to get the new one was really quick. But I also ran into the problem with the JINGLISH speakers when I called to find out how to get it relaced.
