What is cutting board made of?

What material is the cutting board you get for your tanks made of? Polyethylene? I have access to sheets of UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) that range in size from 1/8 to 1" thick in 4' x 10' sheets. UHMW is FDA compliant. I have some 1/4" I would like to use for the bottom of my 75 if this stuff will work.

I'm quite sure UHMW is what most people are using for BB tanks.

most people use high density polyethylene (hdpe)-i would guess the stuff you have access to is even heavier (non-buoyant) and would work fine-but its prolly more expensive. i have 1/2" hdpe in my tank because i didn't want it to warp and have the corner curl up. i would go with at least 3/8". 1/4" might work if you silly-cone it down.

I have used different thicknesses and prefer 3/8". even 3/8" will warp some, but with one rock on it np. Both syliconing and not syliconing work. You do need ot get that first rock down to hold it down, but once you do have some weight its not going anywhere. I prefer to not sylicone it.
The disadvantage is, if you lift up the structure it will come up enough for snails to get sucked under and you will have to finish cleaning your tank. 6 of one half dozzen of the other.
I just noticed you have a sheet of 1/4". I would just use that. The main thing its for is spreading any impact. I do agree black looks better though
