water flow?


I have a few questios about flow in my tank(55gal), I have 2 170gph power heads 1 at each end.I also have a canister filter (350gph) returning out of a spray bar(dead center back glass flowing twards front glass) I run all 24-7 .Is this too much? should I run 1 powerhead at a time?any Ideas

You can never replicate (sp.?) nature, so IMO you can never have enough flow. But there are other facters to be considered, such as what corals do you have/plan to keep, softies, lps, or sps?

I have a small hammer coral,small green bubble coral,pulsating xenia,ricordia polyps,small rock w/zoo's,green open brain,and some shroomz.

Your tank turnover is about 11-12 times an hour. You are plenty fine. My tank has about 38 times turnover and I would like more. Clownfishcrazy is correct about not being able to come close to replicateing flow in the natural enviorment.

everything likes it better since I added new powerhead, execpt green open brain any Ideas were he would like it?

Yep... I only have about a 35X turnover rate and need more.

I just added a tunze stream to my system a couple of weeks ago which puts me at about 25x p/hour. Biggest difference I have noticed so far is that my skimmer is pulling more junk out of the water.
