Turboflotor stops producing skimmate

I notice that my Turboflotor 1000 Classic (with Rio pump) stops producing skimmate when the top of the tube is dirty. The bubble pops before getting all the way to the top of the tube. Water level is slightly over the neck (where the collection cup sits).

After I clean it, it runs fine for 2-3 days and collect about half inch of skimmate then stop working. If possible, I want to wait until I get 3 to 4 inches of skimmate before cleaning it.Anyone seen this before and what is your solution? Thanks

Two things..... Upgrade to the Oceanrunner needle wheel and get a good needle-valve to control the air intake. This not only makes adjusting easier but for whatever reason helps keep the air intake holes cleaner and run more consistant. Those two things will significantly improve your skimmate production and less time fiddling........

I agree with david. I did it the regular way until I bought davids TF-1000. Works great all one has to adjust is the air intake.

I took the advice and upgraded to OR 2700. Now it is too strong and flow over the tube. Couple questions

1) If I restrict the air intake, does this effect performance? (Obviously, I'll get less bubble for this)
2) What feed pump do you recommmand? I'm using Rio 1100.
3) What is the correct water level in the skimmer body?

Thanks.

take out the flow restrictors, and use a maxijet 400 to feed the skimmer. You should be able to run it wide open with the two knob like flow restrictors removed and a maxijet 400 as the feed pump.
