turbelle stream

Well I am sick of all these powerheads in my tank, so today I forked over quite a bit of money for a turbelle stream 6060. I'll have to keep in touch when I get it, I am quite excited.

Did either one of you guys get the "rock" covers? Or are you going to hang then from the side?

Stream rocks are nice especially for wider tanks. However, I was running them on a 125g that's only 18" wide. It's difficult to position them with the limited front to back and still have room for your regular rockwork without stacking your rock on top which makes it tough for maintenance.

Mine is going to be on the viewing end of my 135 pennisula tank to hide the stream.

Devin, do you have room for that rock cover in your curent tank? It might be nice to get a start on some coraline growth before your 135 is up. Just my $0.02

Nope it won't fit in my 20H, but I don't mind the way it looks.

Because it's porous, If you have good coraline on your existing rock and water chemistry is good ( may also want to suppliment strontium if you don't already to accelerate ), I was amazed just how fast it's gets covered. Within 2 weeks you should already start to see the coraline specks appearing on the rock....

It would look really good if I could get an encrusting monti to cover it.

Are these things safe for an RBTA? Or can they get sucked into them just like a regular PH?

They can still get sucked in, but if you use the rock you have less of a chance of a RBTA getting sucked in.

If any of you are wondering, in that pic my HDPE is 15" wide to give you an idea of how big the rock is.
