the IMPORTANCE of being THROUGH

plumbing a sump in basment

primer primer primer glue glue EVERYTHING

so I thought..

crank the IWAKI 70 to run, go upstairs check the output

hmm pretty thready

start thinking, too much head ? cant be, its a pressure pump

go downstairs

first word came in my head was S * $ T

forgot to prime/glue a union, and the sump almost emptied in 45 seconds (12.5 gallons per second) I had about 40 50 gallons left, but jeezus!!

now those who are PVC'ing a bunch of stuff

CHECK CHECK CHECK CHECK

YES the water is on the floor.

.....but we love this hobby right?

Hope it's not a carpeted floor. Let me know if you need a hand with some of the connections. I may get floods from other stuff but not my PVC connections.

Everything elso OK?

everything is good, I m just missing 2 parts

a spears valve, a 2 inch spears gate valve, and I CANT find it - its HUGE, yet I could find a 3/4 barb fitting female heh. (need for skimmer)

now, all are well, running nice and smoothly, better than I really expected.

Clyde, sorry to hear about that... I hope I have better luck when I get mine setup to be plumbed in the basement. Fortunatley I do not have any carpet or anything down there yet or anything either. My only concern is if the pump I have is going to be strong enough. It is a mag 12. The return will go up about 7' then over about 17' then up about 3 1/2 to 4 more feet. Does anyone know if the horizontal distance will have any effect on the amount of head pressure? The total vertical distance is only 11' which will give me an output of 500 gph. Currently I have a mag2 that has a max output of 200 gph... so minus the 3 to 3 1/2 feet of head and it lucky to be pushing 150 to 175 gph. So if I can get the 175 gph or better I will be happy. But seriously if anyone knows if that horizontal distance will count against the head pressure let me know... also let me know how much of an impact it will have. Also do you guys think I should go all flex tubing or pvc (for the inflow and for outflow)? What are the pros and cons?
