tang fighting question and advise needed

I put a Yellow Eye Kole Tang in with my Chevron Tang, more great advise i got to pay a premium for, and as you can guess things are not going well. the Chevron wont leave the kole alone. My question is will they settle down or do i need to remove the kole ?? Not sure i can deal with the lfs where i got them from anymore. I had say an $80 credit at the store, so the wife and i went to get some fish. Picked out a kole tang, Lawnmower blenny, and a Tiger Watchman Goby for like $210. A return might be an option, but with deals like this, what next a damsel for $150. Also the chevron looks to have very small spots on it. might be white, doesn't look like full blown icky or anything. not sure what fun awaits me with that. I do have 2 cleaner shrimp in the tank.

Just looking for advise for what to do.
Thanks for the time,
Joel

How big is the Kole? Those three fish for $210 = one major ripoff. IME, I know I've seen the Tiger Watchman Goby go for anywhere between $20 - $35. I don't think Kole Tangs are all that pricey either depending upon the size of the fish... does anyone else think $210 for these three fish is really expensive?

kole is about 3" or so. I think 210-80 = 130 or so. I think the prices were pumped up to absorb the credit i had for a fish that is back in their tank and very healthy looking.

*nod* That is unfortunate... but I think a lot of stores do that to not only absorb the store credit... but also make you pay them in excess of that.

Good luck with the Kole and the Chevron...

I wouldn't put him in a tank that small. You should list him on the board and see if anyone wants him for a trade of some sort, at least you will get something back out of it. At least you get store credit, the LFS by my house wont give me crap if I have to get rid of a fish, so I dont give fish to them anymore. Not that I really have had issues with compatibility anymore, but the last fish I got rid of I gave to a club member, in hopes of some frags at a later date.

Well, the kole has been exchanged for another fish after some conversation with them. Props for them and their effort in trying to make this situation better for us.

If possible try changing the rock structure around a little. The Chevron is just protecting his turf. By changing his turf he will be less concerned about the Kole. This has worked for me before, b ut if you can't move rock around then seperate them asap. Hope this is helpful.

all depends on what types of fish you are adding.....aggressive tangs should be added last to any tank IMO
