I had one and really liked it. I did awesome under 400W 20K Radiums on
HQI ballast. I found it a HarMar Pets about 3-4 years ago......Hadn't every seen one again until that link.
When the coralvue 20K bulbs first revision came out a couple of years ago, people including me experience bad problems running on HQI ballast ( even with the bulb up over 16" of the tank ). While the bulb color looked very similiar to the 20K Radium from the human eye, the specturm wavelenght concentrations on the bulb were far different wave lengths than any other bulbs on the market ( and speculation of high UV output ) made it nearly impossible to acclimate already established colonies to the bulb. That fact that it was an HQI ballast vs. M59 made the wavelenght differences even more exaggerated..
Anyway, when I replaced my 400W 20K Radiums with the Coralvue it severely burnt a number of corals. This one got burnt so bad it was not able to recover
Shortly afterwards they revised the bulb but that did me little good. Since these experience, I am now very cautious when new bulbs hit the market and will wait at least a year before trying any new bulbs......
