Sterile sand

My sand bed is as sterile as OR in the hospital. Actually it has only bacteria that crawled down from LR. Where do I get some LS to seed it?

As much detritus that I see collect on a barebottom just in one weeks time, I can assure you that it is anything but sterile ( after the first 24 hours ).

In most cases, If you have mature LR, it will get seeded from the critters in the LR. Be careful when seeding from others tanks that you don't inherit pest such as the common flatworm. Because of that I would just let it be and not seed from others tanks.

yeah, my 40 is BB and I am amazed at how much crap gathers on a weekly basis. It is kinda nice though, because it is a guarantee that I will not forget to do a water change, and if I do one for the 40, I might as well do one on the 12, the 220, and the QT tank as well.
