Someone measure for me please

Anyone with a 72" stand please measure the width of the door opening. I'd like to be able to put a 55g under my 125 and need to know the deminsion of the opening so I don't make it too wide or too narrow. Thanks.

While I don't know the door opening for your specific question,

I do know that standard AGA stands etc. the only way to get a 55g in there is through the top during setup. Also, 55g are kindof tall for the stand and can be a pain to get your arms and equipment ( skimmer etc. ) in/out of the sump. It can work just not ideal.....

I have 2 55 gallon tanks under my 72" 125. Let me see if I can post some pics. My husband made my stand so that the end is removable. The trims and everything stay put just the end panel moves...you can't even tell it is removable and makes it easy to slide the tanks in from the end. Let me try this digital camera I bought this weekend.

It is 2 ft longer than the display. I have cupboards built on each side of main tank for storage of supplements and foods...ect. My husband has awesome skills as a carpenter. He is also a Powder coater....which helps with those metal stands. I am going to try the pic thing. I bought a digital this weekend....wish me luck!

Building the stand with a removable side panel is a great idea! I'll keep that in mind for the future.

I decided I am going to do removeable panels, thought about it before reading this thread, I didn't think anyone responded to it, must have over looked it.

Ben, IMO: The side access is only good when using a steel stand as 2x4s and other woods needed for reinforcement will restrict the max width trying to slide something in from the side. Been there done that......
