So you stand is a foot longer than the tank then ?

It is 2 ft longer than the display. I have cupboards built on each side of main tank for storage of supplements and foods...ect. My husband has awesome skills as a carpenter. He is also a Powder coater....which helps with those metal stands. I am going to try the pic thing. I bought a digital this weekend....wish me luck!

Building the stand with a removable side panel is a great idea! I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Ben, IMO: The side access is only good when using a steel stand as 2x4s and other woods needed for reinforcement will restrict the max width trying to slide something in from the side. Been there done that......
