so the saga continues
well, im sure many of you have read the post about what happened when i went to drill my 125 that has been in the making for 4 months. (2 longer than anticipated and was still counting.) In casew you didnt, it cracked setting me back yet another step. I started contemplating what i was gonna do with the 100+ lbs of liverock which has made its home in a rubbermaid container for the last 2 months. Well i got a call from a fellow reefer who wanted me to come take a look at a 58 gal. tank stand and canopy he had. well now it is set up in my dining room with water and all!!! I still need to tweek itt a little to get it the way i want it but so far this is the setup. 58gal oceanic tank stand and canopy, 20 gal long for sump, Americle quad I skimmer run off a mag 7 (for now), mag 12 return but will probably go to 9.5 or even 7, the 12 is a little noisy and large for what i need. So now I just need to solve my microbubble problem in my return, add a couple powerheads, and a 4 bulb vho setup i think. money will be a little tight for a couple more months so slow it goes. well im done rambling now. I will post pics soon.

theres one baffle. but it doesnt go all the way to the botoom. i could only split the sump in half and still fit everything. i didnt want the baffle to go to the bottom of the sump cuz that would cut the water volume in half before the pump runs dry. most of my problem is from the skimmer. it doesnt have a round tube for exit wazter it has a wide tray it comes out of and acts as a waterfall. i need to bend some acrylic so it doesnt "fall" in the sump

heres the setup. i think i will rearrange the rock though. theres about a foot of empty space behind it and its a little too straight up and down for me. The lighting is just the 60w twin tube that came with the aquarium so that will get changed before i go coral hunting. i also bought some turbo snails to help with a hair algea problem and i need a couple peps. theres a few aiptasia cropping up.

notice all the bubbles in the right side of the sump from the overflow. not quite sure why its doing that. I went to harmar last night. it must be under new management cuz the tanks looked pretty healthy. they had a turbo zsnail the size of a baseball. i almost bought it but figured it would knock everything over in my little tank. they had a spider decorator crab there that would make a really cool species nano or maybe a sump monster.

The bubbles on the right side coming from the overflow is not unusual. It is pretty normal for the durso stand pipes. To minimize, either put a 45degree pvc on the end, right at the same height of the water level or create a U tube out of pvc where the end of the tube is at or just above the water level. This will minimize the collision off the bubbles. I used a shorter sump and there was plenty of distance for the bubbles to dissapate before reaching the return pump.

i had the u tube the way you had it pointing up towards the water surface and it was almost shooting outta the sump even with the return pump dialed way back so i pointed it straight down. maybe ill try on its side. should it be below or above water surface??? i think alot of my microbubble problem is from my skimmer. its a waterfall as you can see in the pic. i have to bend some acrylic to slide it to the water surface rather than let it fall like that. what pump were you using how many gph through it. it will handle the mag 12 wide open if it werent for all the darned bubbles.i was surprised it could handle that much flow.

Mag12 IMO is way overkill on a 58g for a return pump.
I was using a OceanRunner 2500 pump which is much smaller/less flow so it didn't shoot also wasn't causing near the air mixing either from the durso.
