Umm.... mag 12.... You will get a fair amount of head loss using the scwd and i would use at least a mag 9.5 for a tank that size anyway.

I will set the pump in the tank, with the SCWD....plan to run 2.5' of line off each side. (so, no head)
As my bigger pump is a mag7 I will go with that.
THANX!

Even with no head, the just using a SCWD is substantially reduce flow. I can't remember the exact number.
Make sure you keep the SCWD plenty clean.

I used one and will never ever use one again. It lasted about a month and the restriction was so much on the mag 9.5 that the water temp jumped five degrees. IMO there are much better alternatives to wavemaking on a closed loop (Ocean Motions).

I would do an ocean motions. The guy has pretty nice products. Check out the squirt or the 4 way.

$100 won't get you anything from Oceans Motions ( www.oceansmotions.com )
Greta stuff but comes with a pricetag !!
I personally have had my two SCWD's running with out ANY problems for 9 months now. Never even cleaned them ! They have no effect on my water temp whatsoever and I have been over driving them I think.
