Save me please......
I just started my reef tank and this is what I have everything seems to be working great but one. The one am talking about is the purple looking one in the middle which is closed. I need to save this coral, can someone in bloomington with a big heart help me to save this beauty before it dies?
Thank you,
David
Please PM me to let me know

It has been closed for the third day tomorro. My problem is I don't have the right lighting and it may die because of this. I lost my job due to offshoring withing IT so I have to be conservative w my funds. But what's gsp..?
Thanks!

star polyps are notorious for taking awhile to open up-how long has the tank been setup and when did you add this coral?

GSP short fro green star polyps.
Trust me you can't kill them. I once stored LR in a bin in the closet ( with heater and circulation pump ) for MONTHS without any light whatsoever. I guess just went dormant during that time. Never killed them, when rock placed back in the tank with lighting they took off as nothing ever happened.
If you haven't done so yet, crap can accumulate on the matt portion. so use a turkey baster and blow it off every so often.

Not really, I do have calcium additive which I use everyother week as noted on the bottle. When you mention pulsing should it be?

Two questions:
1) Are those two Xenia stalks growing ON that clam, or is that just a trick w/ the camera?
2) It looks like you have a Derasa clam in there too. (Hard to tell because it isn't open in the pic.) If you don't have sufficient lighting, they will decline in heath pretty quickly. Definitely might want to consider giving him away to someone if you don't have the lighting for him.

I want to thank everyone for the replies, since the gsp has opened up and is a beauty. I've been thinking since we are having a meeting this weekend if it be a good time to frag this piece. If you look closely the botton left has a decent size piece that can be removed and so other few smaller pieces. By looking at this pic can anyone tell? I would like to trade possibly? Hoping one day I can sell/trade my trigger fish and begin a reef tank.
One more question, does fraggin help the coral grow/develop?
