Sale: Getting out of hobby (for now)
Well, I'm out. After having a number of tank crashes earlier this year (mostly pertaining to RTN), I have been struggling to rebuild my tank, and I just don't have the money/willpower to keep going.
I guess I learned some reef-math along the way too:
Unemployment + Reefing = Something's gotta give
Anyhow, I'm sure that some day I'll be back at it, but until then, I'm essentially cleaning house. I've got a lot of stuff to sell off, so I'm just going to start listing it, and I'll try to go back and add pictures and more info as I have time.
I am planning on going to the meeting, (hopefully I will get an email response with directions by tonight), so if you want to buy something, please let me know and I'll try to bring it along. Otherwise, either Friday or Saturday is when I want to get rid of all my stuff, so if you can come on over, please send me a PM or email with what you want and when you want to come by, and I'll try to do my best to accomdate.
My address is:
4850 Merilee Dr.
Minnetonka, MN 55343
(bluish gray house 3/4 down the street on right)
My tank was SPS-only, but there's not much left after all the crashes. Please bear with me, because as I write this my tank is 100% up and running, yet by tonight I hope to have most of it dissasembled and ready to sell, so I will be busy. If you really want something, please just make me an offer; if I don't sell it, I have nothing left to do with it.
Stuff for sale:
4-stage 75GPH RO unit w/ TDS meter - lightly used for ~8 months, brings TDS from 320 down to about 10ppm; has sediment, two carbons, and RO stage; don't have the pipe-piercing tap for the input side as that is now connected to my own pipes, but I will include a hose adapter for the input - asking $60 or best offer - PENDING
Beckett 1408 Injector - $5
2/3 of a bucket of Instant Ocean (the 200g version) - guessing there is probably a good 125 gallon's worth of salt left, asking $20
15g high AGA - used as a sump, asking $5 or best offer
33g long AGA - in pretty lousy shape, scratches abound, has silicone smears along the backside, won't be able to get rid of this until everything is out of it, asking $10 *edit - okay, upon further inspection, the tank is not THAT bad *
GFCIs - 1 plug-in type, 2 in-wall, used, asking $5 each
APC ES-350 Battery backup - asking $10 or best offer
1" Gate Valve - used on my skimmer, asking $5
3/4" Clear PVC true union swing check valve - used a long time ago to prevent backsiphons on return line, asking $5 or best offer
"Raintight" Grounded Heavy Duty Intermatic Timers - I have four of these, they have a nice flip[-cover to prevent accidentally bumping and moving the time off, and to keep water out, asking $5 each
Regular timers, ungrounded - four of these, $1 each
*Edited this post/list once I got back from the meeting*
*Edited this post again once I tore down the tank on Sun.*

PC lights - I have a DIY 2 x 55w PC lighting that is the SLOPPIEST looking thing you will ever see, made of spare 2x4s and plywood; but, if you want to remount the lights, be my guest; includes wired ballast, sockets w/ quick disconnects, 1 10k lightbulb, 2 x actinic lightbulbs, asking $10 for the whole thing *Only for the DIYer*
|
Also post a pic of your dead/Live rock. May be interested in bringing it back to life.

*Almost alive* Liverock - I have some leftover fiji LR from when my tank was overrun with mushrooms and aiptasia, which I took and buried in the snow for about 4 months last December; the rocks are devoid of all life, but they are still pretty cool looking; there are maybe 6 - 7 large rocks still left, totaling roughly 35- 45 lbs, I'm asking $2.50 per rock

The ballast is a All-Glass-Aquarium ballast taken out of their 2x55w fixture.
Here's a top-down pic of the LR, sorry about the bad angle, I'll try to post more in a sec

If you can bring it to the meeting, I will take the SEIO pump.
I may take a few other things, but I have to hurry before Derek jumps in!!!

Mark/Reefsitter, I'll save the Seio for you.
As for my SPS, I'm having a tough time taking pictures under the 20k lighting - its been a while....
I will attach a hideous picture taken with the flash, just so you get a general idea of the SPS, I'll explain in a little bit.... need to go figure out this white-balance thing

I'll bring the MJ to the meeting. The Chromis are each about 1" or maybe 1.5" big. (What is your name so I know who to find at the meeting. )

Red w/ yellow tips A. millepora frag, slightly browned out - asking $15

have a picture of this
400w MH magnetic ballast (fully wired with DIY cooling fan) and spiderlight reflector, uses a quick-disconnect between ballast and reflector/socket, will also include 400w XM 20k bulb used for 11 months, asking $50 for the whole shooting match

Okay, about the SPS, I'm sorry, but I am having a tough time taking pictures of them in their true colors.
The Blue mille is, IMO, a huge frag, as you can see by the size in the preceding pic (far left). The Red Mille w/ yellow tips is smaller, and I will attach a closeup of that in this message. It is slightly browned out, meaning it is not a vibrant red, and the tips are more of a greenish hint now. It WAS red, and it shouuld color up in a decent tank, but when I moved it, it turned brown. The color and birghtness on the pic is way off, but this will give you an idea on the size - it is also a fast grower.
As for the misc montis, they are mostly junk that are browned out or sickly. What is included is: a sickly oragne digi, a browned out purple digi, a bland/browned out blue ORA digi, a browned out green caprcornis, a mystery encrusting monti (receded and browned out), and a green hydnophora. All are/were in terrible shape, but look to be making a slow comeback. Most showed some tissue reccesion during my previous tank crash, which is why I am only asking $10 for all of these corals.

Here's a pic of the ballast, and the quick disconnect next to it. The reflector should be self-explanatory.
